 Печально говорить такие слова в самом начале рецензии, но от никуда не деться – увы, но и этот альбом можно назвать не оправдавшим ожидания. Дело даже не в том, что команда еще полегчала и совсем отдалилась не только от ударного мелодик дэта с первой пластинки “Eden Fire”, но и почти отказалась от забойного metalcore’a с “Only Inhuman”, заиграв то, что сейчас принято называть emocore’ом, а в том, что Sonic Syndicate заметно потеряли в хитовости. Партий чистого вокала стало заметно больше и его нельзя назвать выдающимся – большую часть пластинки это больше похоже на нытье, нежели на пение; гитарные риффы окончательно превратились в банальность, представляя из себя именно то, что мило сердцу 12-14 летнего подростка в период борьбы с обильно высыпавшими на лице прыщами. C другой стороны, такие изменения понятны – почему бы и не стать кумирами подростков, а то, что ради этого необходимо немного прогнуться, так почему бы и нет? В конце концов, прогиб неплохо оплачивается. Это уже доказала статистика – клип на песню “Jack Of Diamond” (самый яркий с диска номер без всяких сомнений) на бесплатном сервисе Youtube посмотрели более миллиона раз. Значит все изменения оказались такими, как того требовало время. Российское издание идентично лимитированной европейской версии и включает два бонус трека, которые серьезно ситуацию не меняют. Они, конечно, мажоры, и музыка у них достаточно шаблонна и стандартна, но всё-таки цепляет. Дело даже не в каких-то там наворотах и попытках изобразить что-то из ряда вон выходящее. Нет. Тут просто банально много хитов. Правда, соседствуют они с несколькими не самыми удачными песнями. Ну, стопроцентными хитами могу назвать первые 4 трека, далее "Power Shift". Уже эти композиции делают альбому всю погоду, уж извините за это избитое выражение.
Ну а записано и сыграно всё, конечно, очень качественно и чисто. Придраться не к чему. Правда, насколько я знаю, вживую группа всё-таки слабовата. Но этим многие сейчас грешат, и дело не в бездарности, а банальной неопытности. Подучатся ребята, и всё будет отлично. Это, кстати, последний альбом с прежним вокалистом Роландом, и раз уж заговорили об этом, то надо отметить и вокал. Он стандартен для такого рода музыки - весьма сносный скрим и чистоголосый распев, отлично дополняющие друг друга. Немалую долю хитовости в песни, кстати говоря, привносит именно вокал, - отличных, запоминающихся припевов хватает. Самые лучшие вещи в этом плане, на мой взгляд, "Hellgate: Worcester" (врезается в память сразу и надолго) и уже отмеченная мной выше "Power Shift". Кстати, и "My Escape" - вещь достойная. Довелось читать критические отзывы о ней, но позволю себе не согласиться. Немного лирики не повредит.
Словом, вполне достойная работа, идущая в ногу со временем. Потенциал есть. Коммерческий - уж точно. |

Что ж, собственно, ожидал почти то, что и услышал. Но нечто новое все-таки есть, нечто интересное. Музыка стала значительно жестче, яростней, не потеряв при этом мелодичности. Великолепные боевики гармонирует с прекрасными среднетемповыми композициями. Вокал обоих вокалистов стал разнообразнее, однако, стоит отметить, что не обошлось без компьютерной обработки на рядах песен. С одной стороны, звучит «в тему», но мне лично не очень.
На этом альбоме Sonic Syndicate показали, что не только умеют писать прекрасную музыку, но и, не изобретая велосипеда, брать лучшее у «братьев старших». На этом альбоме наблюдается поклон в сторону таких музыкантов, как Rob Zombie, Buckethead, Norther и других, но не в ущерб их собственного стиля.
В итоге имеем замечательный альбом с запоминающимися мелодиями, сильными припевами, в общем, всем тем, что мы так ценим Соников. Не являясь большим поклонником подобного стиля, считаю, что если смешение направлений, своего рода музыкальная эклектика, не станет мэйнстримом рок-сцены, то по крайней мере отвесит такого пинка классическому металу во всех его проявлениях, что он долго будет приходить в себя. |
